A sales funnel is a chart that visualises a customer’s journey through your business.
It helps businesses understand how different marketing strategies impact the
probability of a sale, which in turn can help them create more effective and
profitable campaigns. In addition, sales funnels can also be used to train and
prepare a sales team, providing them with an idea of what they should expect from
each lead.
The first stage is awareness, where you’re trying to draw attention to your brand
and products. This can be done by creating informative blogs, infographics or videos
that educate your audience about the products you offer. Social media ads are also a
great way to reach your audience in this stage.
In the interest stage, you’re aiming to further entice your prospects to take the next
step. Offering free trials, downloadable resources and discount offers can be a great
way to capture email addresses and nurture your leads into a purchase. Live
demonstrations, personalized email campaigns and testimonials are also great tools
at this point in the process to bolster your case for why they should choose you.
Once your audience is at the consideration stage, they’re weighing the pros and
cons of using your product. This is where providing a detailed description of your
product’s benefits and how it can help them solve their problems becomes vital.
Including customer stories and reviews can be extremely persuasive in this phase,
especially if they’re related to the pain points your product addresses.
At this point, your prospects are almost ready to commit to a purchase, but may
need a little extra encouragement before they actually do so. This is where offering
a limited-time discount or other incentives can make the difference between
someone purchasing your product, and them walking away.
After a potential customer is sold, the follow-up and fuel stages become crucial to
maintaining high customer satisfaction and building repeat business. This is where
your business can send targeted emails, set up retargeting campaigns and conduct
surveys to identify the most common objections that prevent customers from
making a purchase. Having answers to these questions in hand can streamline your
customer support efforts and decrease the time it takes to close each sale.
Having a comprehensive sales funnel can help online businesses increase their
revenue and build long-term sustainable success. But the process of building a
funnel isn’t necessarily easy, and it’s important to know what works and what
doesn’t for your specific audience. By experimenting with different marketing
strategies, you can find the combination that’s right for your business. And, with a
